About the Opportunity
Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a qualified and passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time, school-based position in Sanford, FL for the 20262027 school year. This role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, helping them access the curriculum and build independence.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments based on individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Conduct assessments and assist in developing appropriate educational goals and accommodations
- Teach Braille, assistive technology, orientation and mobility basics, and daily living skills as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and families
- Adapt classroom materials to meet students visual needs
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team collaboration
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field
- Active Florida certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (or ability to obtain)
- Experience working with students with visual impairments preferred
- Knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and low-vision strategies
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
