Key Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) or eligibility for certification
  • Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments
  • Proficiency in Braille and assistive technology for visually impaired students
  • Strong collaborative and communication skills to partner with classroom teachers, parents, and team members
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Dedication to fostering inclusivity and advocating for student needs

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver individualized instruction that meets students unique learning requirements
  • Adapt curriculum materials into accessible formats, such as Braille, large print, and audio
  • Provide direct instruction in adaptive techniques and the use of specialized technology
  • Assess students progress and adjust strategies as needed to maximize their educational growth
  • Train and support school staff in working with visually impaired students
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary planning
