Job Description

Empower students with visual impairments to thrive academically and personally in a supportive educational setting. As a Visually Impaired Teacher, youll collaborate with classroom staff and families to provide individualized instruction, fostering growth and independence for each student.

What Were Looking For:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience adapting curriculum and materials for visually impaired or blind students
  • Knowledge of Braille and assistive technologies (screen readers, magnification devices)
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills to work closely with staff, students, and families
  • Flexibility and creativity to adjust strategies as students needs evolve

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver instructional plans tailored to each students visual abilities and learning styles
  • Teach Braille reading and writing, orientation and mobility, and the use of assistive technology
  • Modify classroom materials and environments to ensure accessibility and promote participation in all activities
  • Guide and support classroom teachers on best practices for inclusion and accessibility
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate, timely documentation
  • Foster a welcoming, encouraging learning environment that inspires confidence and self-advocacy
