Job Description
Make a difference in students lives as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, supporting K-12 learners for the 2026-2027 school year. This part-time contract opportunity offers flexibility and the chance to provide specialized instruction to students in a supportive educational environment. While onsite presence is preferred, remote (VOCO) work may also be considered.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Michigan teaching license required; please verify credentials through the Michigan educator certification database
- Experience working as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or in a similar role supporting visually impaired students is highly desirable
- Strong skills in designing and adapting curriculum materials for K-12 students
- Familiarity with assistive technology and tools for visually impaired learners
- Comfortable collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, individualized instruction to learners with visual impairments in accordance with their IEP goals and unique needs
- Conduct assessments and collaborate on the development of educational plans
- Support the integration of assistive devices and accessible materials in the classroom
- Consult with teachers and school staff to adapt curriculum, activities, and classroom settings
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to progress reports and IEP meetings
- Serve a caseload of K-12 students, working approximately 5 hours per week, with a flexible part-time schedule
This contract position runs tentatively from August 24, 2026, to June 3, 2027, giving you the chance to foster independence and growth for students who are visually impaired.
