Job Description

What Were Looking For:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), eligible in Texas
  • Experience teaching students with blindness or low vision across various grade levels
  • Strong understanding of adaptive techniques, Braille instruction, assistive technology, and accessible classroom resources
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

What Youll Do:

  • Work directly with students who are visually impaired, providing customized instruction and support
  • Adapt general education materials to ensure accessibility for all learners
  • Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to integrate modifications and accommodations
  • Support and educate families about available resources and support services
  • Monitor student progress, maintaining detailed documentation and contributing to IEP meetings
  • Offer guidance and training to district staff on best practices for serving visually impaired students
