Qualifications & Experience:

• Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with children or young adults with visual impairments, preferably in a school environment
• Strong knowledge of Braille, adaptive technology, low vision devices, and accessibility strategies
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, staff, students, and families
• Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 plans
• Flexibility and creativity in adapting materials and instruction for diverse needs

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in specialized areas such as Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and assistive technology
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and educational teams to adapt curriculum and develop accessible resources
• Evaluate students functional vision and learning needs through ongoing assessments
• Offer guidance and training to staff and family members to foster inclusive and supportive learning environments
• Maintain detailed records, progress reports, and required documentation
• Consult with outside agencies or specialists as needed to enhance student support
