This opportunity is for a full-time Teacher for the Visually Impaired based in Kernersville, NC, providing specialized educational support to K-12 students. The position involves working onsite within the school setting, focusing on tailored instruction for visually impaired learners to enhance their academic and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and identify the educational needs of visually impaired students across K-12.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) that address visual impairment-related learning challenges.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and support staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies, adaptive technology, and resources to support student learning.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional plans accordingly.
- Provide training and guidance to staff and families regarding visual impairment accommodations and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Valid North Carolina Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) license.
- Experience working with visually impaired students in a K-12 educational setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to develop individualized instructional plans tailored to students needs.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and student advocacy.
