Job Description

A full-time teaching opportunity is available for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) serving the New Orleans, LA area in Jefferson Parish. This position involves working as an itinerant TVI, providing specialized support to visually impaired students across multiple school locations. The contract runs from as soon as possible through May 22, 2026.

Location: New Orleans, LA area
Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week; Monday through Friday, 7 hours daily plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch break, aligned with the school calendar
Assignment: Itinerant services; specific caseload and age group to be determined

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education certification in Teaching Visually Impaired students (TVI) is required
  • Successful candidates must clear district-required drug screening and fingerprinting in addition to other credentialing requirements
  • Teaching experience preferred but all levels considered, with pay commensurate with experience

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments in various school settings
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and related service providers to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Deliver itinerant services tailored to student needs, ensuring access to the general curriculum and assistive technologies
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to student progress and services
