Job Description

Make a real difference in the lives of students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). This full-time, contract position is a rewarding opportunity to support K-12 students across multiple campuses in the greater Houston area. As an itinerant professional, youll adapt instruction to various age groups and learning environments, fostering inclusion and independence for learners with visual impairments. This school-based opening runs through the end of the academic year.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with students from kindergarten through high school
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, accessible instructional materials, and assistive technology
  • Flexibility and organizational skills for managing a caseload across multiple schools
  • Excellent communication abilities for collaborating with staff and families
  • Commitment to creating equitable learning opportunities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and consultation for students with visual impairments, K-12
  • Travel to multiple school sites as an itinerant teacher as needed
  • Adapt curricula and materials to meet individual visual accessibility needs
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
  • Collaborate with general and special educators to support student success
  • Communicate progress and develop goals in partnership with families and IEP teams
  • Advocate for and instruct students in assistive technology and relevant life skills
  • Maintain accurate documentation as required

This position offers full-time hours Monday through Friday, with some flexibility if part-time is preferred. Youll work as a valued resource for students and educators, helping to build a more inclusive learning community.
