Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with students from preschool to high school with varying degrees of visual impairment
• Proficiency in Braille instruction and assistive technology
• Strong communication and organizational abilities
• Ability to develop and adapt individualized instructional plans
• Collaborative mindset for working with teachers, families, and support staff
• Up-to-date knowledge of state and federal laws related to special education and visual impairment services

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
• Teach core curriculum and compensatory skills including orientation and mobility techniques
• Collaborate with general and special education teachers to adapt classroom materials and instruction
• Support students in accessing technology, textbooks, and classroom tools in accessible formats
• Advise on classroom modifications and advocate for needed accommodations
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and communication with stakeholders
• Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary teams, and parent conferences as required
