Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment (TVI) or eligibility for state licensure
- Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school setting
- Familiarity with assistive technology, Braille instruction, and adaptive curriculum techniques
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with teachers, staff, and families
- Flexibility and compassion when adapting resources and instruction to individual needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, tailoring lessons to IEP goals
- Assess students needs and progress to develop and implement individualized educational plans
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to ensure inclusive, effective learning
- Teach Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and the use of adaptive technology as required
- Advocate for students accessibility, promoting self-advocacy and independence skills
- Contribute to IEP meetings and prepare necessary documentation to support student success
