Job Description

Located near Jarratt, VA, your expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired will empower students to reach their full potential, both academically and personally.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Teacher Certificate with appropriate endorsement for teaching students with visual impairments
  • Deep knowledge of strategies, accommodations, and adaptive technology for students who are blind or have low vision
  • Experience working with K-12th grade students, including IEP development and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with students, families, and school staff
  • Dedication to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction aligned with students IEPs for those who are visually impaired
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, special education staff, and parents to ensure successful learning outcomes
  • Assess students' strengths and needs, select appropriate curriculum resources, and implement adaptive/assistive technology
  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility concepts, and daily living skills as required
  • Document progress and participate in IEP meetings, maintaining accurate student records
