Job Description

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired specialization
  • Experience designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments
  • Knowledge of adaptive technology and braille instruction
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience in a school environment preferred but not required
  • Passion for advocating for accessibility and inclusive education

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students functional vision and develop educational plans tailored to their unique needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to create supportive learning environments
  • Provide direct instruction in braille, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility skills
  • Adapt curricula and teaching materials to ensure access for students with varying visual abilities
  • Offer guidance and training to school staff regarding visual impairment accommodations
  • Monitor, document, and report student progress regularly
