Job Description

Make an impact supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic school setting near Irving, TX. In this full-time contract role, youll work as an itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired, serving a diverse caseload of young learners across approximately six campuses. Your expertise will guide students in reaching their academic and life skills potential throughout the 2026-2027 school year.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current, active Texas Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) certification
  • Previous experience supporting students with visual impairments in school environments preferred
  • Strong understanding of specialized instructional strategies and adaptive technologies
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage caseload, schedules, and recordkeeping
  • Effective communication and collaboration with general education staff, families, and specialists
  • Flexibility to adjust caseload and service locations as needs shift during the academic year

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students (ages vary; approximately 12-15 students on caseload, including at least three homebound learners)
  • Adapt curriculum and materials to meet students individual needs, fostering access to academic content and life skills
  • Conduct functional vision assessments, develop and implement IEP goals, and participate in ARD meetings
  • Train and support classroom teachers, families, and staff to implement accommodations and use assistive technology
  • Travel between assigned campuses within the district while maintaining clear documentation of student progress
