Job Description

Make a significant impact in the lives of students by providing expert instruction and support as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired during the 20262027 school year. This full-time, onsite contract role involves serving a district assignment, with specific building placement to be determined. Youll play a vital role in helping students with visual impairments achieve educational success and independence through individualized instruction and collaboration with dedicated school staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or similar educator role
  • Holds current certification or licensure pertinent to special education for visual impairments
  • Deep knowledge of relevant instructional strategies, assistive technology, and Braille (as appropriate)
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs in accordance with student needs
  • Commitment to fostering student growth, access to curriculum, and functional independence

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and adaptive techniques for students with visual impairments
  • Work directly with students to support academic progress and orientation/mobility skills
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families
  • Participate actively in IEP meetings and ensure compliance with all accommodations and modifications
  • Serve as a resource for staff on best practices and tools for inclusive education
  • Track and document student progress thoroughly, making data-driven recommendations
