Job Description

Empower students with visual impairments to reach their full potential as a dedicated educator in a supportive school environment near Idaho Falls, ID. As a Visually Impaired Teacher on a contract assignment, you'll collaborate with passionate staff and families to develop individualized learning strategies, helping each student access curriculum and thrive both academically and socially.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired students or eligibility to obtain it
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or a related field
  • Previous experience working with children or young adults with visual impairments strongly preferred
  • Proficiency with adaptive technology and Braille instruction
  • Strong communication and advocacy skills
  • Ability to create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students' vision-related learning needs and develop personalized educational plans
  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, assistive technology, and compensatory skills
  • Adapt classroom materials and environments to ensure accessibility and inclusion
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapy teams, and parents to maximize student success
  • Advocate for student accommodations and ensure access to all school activities
  • Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and participate in IEP meetings
