Job Description

Support students with visual impairments by providing targeted instruction and services in a dynamic K-12 educational setting near the beautiful Hubbard Lake area. This contract opportunity seeks a dedicated professional ready to make a meaningful impact through either onsite or virtual (VOCO) engagement, though onsite presence is preferred. The assignment is slated to run part-timefive hours per weekduring the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications:

  • Active Michigan teaching license for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) required (licensure status can be verified on the Michigan Department of Education website).
  • Experience delivering educational services to students with visual impairments across K-12 grades.
  • Proficiency in individualized education plan (IEP) development and progress monitoring.
  • Adaptability to both onsite and virtual (VOCO) environments, with a preference for in-person support.
  • Strong communication skills when collaborating with faculty, support staff, and families.
  • Ability to employ academic accommodations and adaptive technology for visually impaired learners.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction and support tailored to K-12 students who are visually impaired, ensuring access to core curriculum and supplemental resources.
  • Develop and implement personalized learning strategies and accommodations in alignment with IEP goals.
  • Consult with classroom teachers and staff on best practices for accessibility and inclusion.
  • Monitor and document student progress, adapting interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with families and district teams to foster student success and independence.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
