Job Description

A professional opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support K-12 students in Houston, TX. This position offers the chance to work in an engaging educational environment traveling throughout the region to provide specialized instruction and support tailored to students with visual impairments.

Key Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid Texas Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License
  • Experience working with visually impaired K-12 students, delivering individualized education plans
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers
  • Ability to travel locally as part of the job responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and assistive technology training to students with visual impairments across various grade levels
  • Assess students needs and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in accordance with state guidelines
  • Train teachers, staff, and families on educational strategies and tools for supporting visually impaired students
  • Monitor student progress and modify instructional approaches accordingly
  • Coordinate with multiple school locations within the Houston area as part of a traveling role

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week
  • Age group served: Kindergarten through 12th grade
  • Location: Houston, TX with travel to multiple school sites
