  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairment, or eligibility to obtain one
  • Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired in a school environment (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students needs and create customized instructional materials
  • Deliver direct instruction in areas such as Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of adaptive tools
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure student access and progress
  • Advocate for students needs, promoting inclusive practices schoolwide
  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary
  • Provide training and resources for staff to support visually impaired students
