Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairment or eligibility for credentialing
- Proven experience working with K-12 students who are blind or have low vision
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional methods for visual impairments
- Ability to assess student needs and design tailored education plans
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for partnering with students, families, and school staff
- Commitment to supporting inclusive, innovative educational practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with visual impairments across various grade levels
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Adapt curriculum materials using Braille, tactile graphics, and accessible technology as needed
- Consult with general education staff to ensure materials and environments accommodate all visual needs
- Promote self-advocacy and independent living skills among students
- Maintain accurate records and progress documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
