Job Description

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with students who are blind or have low vision
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology, Braille instruction, and adaptive techniques
  • Ability to design and implement IEPs for visually impaired students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with families, students, and school staff
  • Flexibility and resourcefulness when adapting materials and instructional methods

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and services to students with visual impairments in a variety of school settings
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
  • Develop, adapt, and modify curriculum materials
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers on accessibility and inclusion
  • Provide orientation and mobility training as appropriate
  • Document student progress and participate in IEP meetings
