Qualifications & Experience Desired:

  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairment
  • Previous experience working with visually impaired students preferred
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology and accessible learning materials
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom
  • Adaptable approach to create individualized education plans (IEPs)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement instructional plans tailored to each students unique needs
  • Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation & mobility skills, and assistive technology
  • Consult with general education teachers and staff to modify curriculum and ensure accessibility
  • Conduct assessments to monitor progress and adjust supports as needed
  • Serve as an advocate and informational resource for students, families, and educational staff
  • Participate in IEP meetings, sharing expertise and collaborating on effective strategies
