Qualifications & Experience Desired:
- Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairment
- Previous experience working with visually impaired students preferred
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and accessible learning materials
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom
- Adaptable approach to create individualized education plans (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement instructional plans tailored to each students unique needs
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation & mobility skills, and assistive technology
- Consult with general education teachers and staff to modify curriculum and ensure accessibility
- Conduct assessments to monitor progress and adjust supports as needed
- Serve as an advocate and informational resource for students, families, and educational staff
- Participate in IEP meetings, sharing expertise and collaborating on effective strategies
