Empower students with visual impairments to thrive by bringing your expertise as a teacher of the visually impaired to a rewarding school-based contract role. As an essential support, you will work closely with students, educators, and families to develop personalized strategies, ensuring access to the curriculum and the school community.
Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience supporting students in educational settings, preferably within schools
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, low vision devices, and accessible instructional methods
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and students
- Commitment to fostering inclusivity and independence among students with diverse needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students visual functioning and learning environments to determine individualized needs
- Develop and implement IEP goals and instructional plans tailored to each student
- Teach students Braille, orientation and mobility skills, and the use of adaptive devices
- Provide training for faculty and staff on tools and techniques that support accessibility
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with education standards
- Communicate regularly with parents and school teams to share strategies and progress updates
