A school in Houston, TX is seeking a qualified professional to fill the role of a Visually Impaired Teacher on a contract basis. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with students requiring specialized instruction and support, enhancing their educational experience through tailored strategies and interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
- Provide direct instruction in orientation and mobility, Braille literacy, and assistive technology use.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to ensure student needs are met.
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods accordingly.
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusion within the school environment.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or licensure in visual impairment education.
