Job Description

An opportunity is available for a dedicated educator specializing in visual impairment to support students in a dynamic school environment located in Houston, TX. This contract position involves working closely with visually impaired students to develop tailored educational plans and provide specialized instruction that enhances their learning experience and promotes independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional materials to meet the specific needs of students.
  • Utilize assistive technologies and tactile teaching methods to support student learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to create an inclusive educational environment.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Provide training and resources for staff and families on visual impairment awareness and support techniques.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or licensure in visual impairment education or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience working with students who are visually impaired.
  • Strong knowledge of braille, orientation and mobility strategies, and assistive technology.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
