Embark on a rewarding opportunity to support students with visual impairments across multiple campuses as an itinerant educator for the 2025-2026 school year. This full-time contract role is based near Houston, TX and focuses on providing specialized instruction and advocacy for students from kindergarten through twelfth grade.
Your expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) will have a direct impact on student success, enabling learners to achieve their fullest potential. In this position, youll collaborate with schools throughout the district, utilizing your skills to adapt curriculum, develop individualized educational plans, and partner closely with educational teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid Texas Teaching Certification in Visual Impairments (TVI)
- Prior experience working with K-12 students in educational settings
- Strong understanding of adaptive technologies for the visually impaired
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities with educators, students, and families
- Reliable transportation to service multiple schools (itinerant role)
- Flexibility to work in person (no remote or virtual options available)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instructional support and consultation in line with each students Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Conduct functional vision assessments and learning media assessments as needed
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure full access to classroom materials for visually impaired students
- Design and provide training for staff on adaptive strategies and supportive technology
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
This contract appointment begins as soon as possible and continues through late May 2026, offering a consistent Monday through Friday schedule (37.5 hours per week), with part-time availability considered.
