You will collaborate with school staff, families, and other professionals to create an inclusive and supportive environment for students who are visually impaired.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with a specialization in visual impairment or blindness
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired in a school or educational setting
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and adaptive tools for low-vision learners
- Ability to design and adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, individually or in small groups
- Assess student needs and progress, recommending appropriate accommodations
- Consult with general education teachers and staff on best practices and modifications
- Develop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals in line with district and state guidelines
- Advise families on available resources, advocacy, and support strategies
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, services, and student progress
- Promote independence and daily living skills in alignment with each students abilities
