This full-time position for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is located near Miami, FL, offering a contract role within a school setting. The caseload is divided between two classrooms, each with approximately 10 students, and involves a collaborative co-teaching environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction in braille and assistive technology tailored to blind and visually impaired students.
- Support instructional staff in implementing necessary accommodations within the learning environment.
- Adapt classroom environments to enhance learning accessibility.
- Offer braille instruction support to families.
- Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings as required.
- Provide outreach support and training for children and families involved.
- Deliver early intervention services aligned with client goals.
- Support various children's programs as needed.
- Maintain required professional accreditations, licenses, and continuing education.
- Update client assessments and document findings in designated database systems.
- Participate in staff meetings, conferences, and community engagement activities.
- Contribute to curriculum adaptations based on student needs and professional advancements.
Qualifications:
- Florida Department of Education (FL DOE) Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license required.
- Experience working in educational settings serving visually impaired students.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with instructional staff and families.
- Strong knowledge of braille and assistive technologies.
