Job Description

Located near Miami, FL, this full-time contract opportunity seeks skilled Teachers for the Visually Impaired to support students in a co-teaching environment. The caseload involves approximately 20 students split between two classrooms, offering a dynamic setting to deliver specialized instruction and support to blind and visually impaired children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction in braille and assistive technology tailored to visually impaired students.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff to facilitate accommodations within the learning environment.
  • Adapt classroom settings to meet students individualized learning needs.
  • Provide braille instruction support and outreach to families.
  • Actively participate in IEP meetings and contribute to individualized education planning.
  • Offer early intervention services aligned with client goals.
  • Support all Childrens Programs as needed, demonstrating flexibility across various roles.
  • Maintain professional credentials, including FL DOE TVI licensure and continuing education.
  • Update assessments and document findings accurately using designated database systems.
  • Engage in staff development activities, including conferences, community events, and curriculum adaptation.

Qualifications:

  • Florida Department of Education Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) license.
  • Experience teaching braille and incorporating technology for visually impaired students.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a co-teaching and multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong communication skills to support families and participate in outreach.
  • Commitment to professional growth and adherence to licensure requirements.
