Job Description

A contract position is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support 9th-grade students. This role requires specialized skills in working with visually impaired learners, providing tailored instruction and resources to meet their educational needs.

Location: Riverview, FL

Qualifications:

  • Valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification in Florida
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in a school setting is preferred

Position Details:

  • Instructional time of approximately 46 minutes per day
  • Five days per week schedule
  • Focus on adapting curriculum and employing assistive technologies to enhance student learning

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to determine students visual abilities and educational needs
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to support student success
  • Provide direct instruction and support in vision-specific skills, mobility, and use of adaptive equipment
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate progress regularly
