Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for the visually impaired
- Prior experience working with blind or low-vision students in educational settings
- Proficiency in Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive curriculum resources
- Strong ability to collaborate with general education staff, special education teams, and families
- Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Flexibility and a solutions-focused approach to supporting diverse learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, tailoring lesson plans to each students strengths and needs
- Assess students functional vision and learning environments, making data-informed recommendations for accommodations
- Facilitate access to instructional materials in accessible formats, such as Braille, large print, and digital resources
- Coach school staff and families on specialized strategies and equipment
- Advocate for students success in both academic and extracurricular settings
- Maintain accurate records and participate actively in IEP development and meetings
