Job Description

Teach and support visually impaired students in a dynamic, co-teaching environment near Miami, FL. This full-time, contract position offers the opportunity to work with approximately 20 students across two classrooms, delivering specialized instruction and services as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction in Braille and assistive technology tailored to blind and visually impaired students.
  • Collaborate with instructional staff to implement accommodations and adapt learning environments.
  • Support families by offering Braille instruction and training on assistive strategies.
  • Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the planning process.
  • Offer outreach and early intervention support aligned with students goals.
  • Assist with curriculum adaptation to meet client needs and incorporate advancements in the field.
  • Maintain professional credentials and stay current through continuing education.
  • Document client progress and maintain accurate assessments in designated database systems.
  • Participate in staff meetings, educational fairs, and community outreach events.
  • Provide support across various childrens programs as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Department of Education license for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (FL DOE TVI).
  • Experience working with visually impaired children in educational settings.
  • Strong knowledge of Braille instruction and accessible technologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and learning environments creatively.
