Job Description

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Visual Impairments or equivalent credential
  • Previous experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments preferred
  • Familiarity with Braille, orientation and mobility strategies, and assistive technology
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Collaborative spirit and a passion for student advocacy

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to students with visual impairments in both individual and group settings
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to ensure appropriate modifications and accommodations
  • Assess student progress and adjust lesson plans accordingly
  • Provide training in the use of assistive devices and adaptive technology
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to IEP meetings
  • Foster an inclusive, positive classroom culture that encourages independence and growth
