Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring their full participation in academics and school activities
  • Adapt curriculum materials and develop individualized education plans tailored to each students needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to identify and provide necessary accommodations
  • Assess student progress and communicate outcomes to stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with educational guidelines and district policies
  • Stay current with best practices and statutory requirements for serving visually impaired students

Qualifications:

  • Active Visually Impaired Teacher License and valid MA DOE certification
  • Successful completion of all Massachusetts Teacher Education Licensure (MTEL) exams
  • Experience working as a VI Teacher strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to create accessible instructional materials and modify curriculum
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
