Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Active Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI) License
  • Valid Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) licensure
  • Successful completion of all required MTELs
  • Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments preferred
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultation services to K-12 students with visual impairments, supporting individual education plans (IEPs) and academic success
  • Develop and implement accessible materials, adaptive technology, and teaching strategies for a range of learning abilities
  • Partner with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to facilitate inclusive learning environments
  • Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments as required
  • Advocate for student needs, fostering independence and self-advocacy skills
