Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI) License
- Valid Massachusetts Department of Education (DOE) licensure
- Successful completion of all required MTELs
- Previous experience teaching students with visual impairments preferred
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultation services to K-12 students with visual impairments, supporting individual education plans (IEPs) and academic success
- Develop and implement accessible materials, adaptive technology, and teaching strategies for a range of learning abilities
- Partner with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to facilitate inclusive learning environments
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments as required
- Advocate for student needs, fostering independence and self-advocacy skills
