  • Expertise in working with students who are visually impaired, including developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility to obtain one
  • Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional strategies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with staff, families, and related service providers
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adapting teaching methods to best suit student needs
  • Ability to manage a caseload and travel between school sites as needed

Role responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in both individual and group settings
  • Assess students abilities and develop tailored plans to achieve their educational goals
  • Collaborate with general education teachers to make curriculum accessible and support full classroom participation
  • Consult with school personnel, families, and community agencies to coordinate resources for student success
