What were seeking:
- Expertise in working with students who are visually impaired, including developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Valid certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility to obtain one
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to partner with staff, families, and related service providers
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adapting teaching methods to best suit student needs
- Ability to manage a caseload and travel between school sites as needed
Role responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in both individual and group settings
- Assess students abilities and develop tailored plans to achieve their educational goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers to make curriculum accessible and support full classroom participation
- Consult with school personnel, families, and community agencies to coordinate resources for student success
- Advocate for accessible materials, assistive technologies, and effective accommodations
- Participate in IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and documentation of student growth
