Your expertise as a Visually Impaired Teacher will be key in providing tailored educational experiences. Youll guide students in developing compensatory skills, accessing curriculum, and building confidence in their abilities. Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility for certification
- Experience adapting instructional materials to meet varied visual needs
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility concepts
- Excellent communication skills for working across teams and with families
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for fostering student growth and independence
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide direct instruction in areas such as Braille literacy, technology usage, and daily living skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt materials and integrate accessible strategies
- Advocate for accessible environments and appropriate accommodations
- Regularly communicate with caregivers, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Maintain clear, organized documentation of student progress
