Make a real difference in the lives of students by bringing your expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to a contract opportunity in the Hackberry area. This position provides an engaging and supportive environment, beginning July 15th, 2026, and lasting through May 19th, 2027, at 20 hours per week.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or eligibility for certification
- Experience working with students who are visually impaired, including developing and adapting instructional materials
- Strong collaboration skills for working with other educators, paraprofessionals, and support staff
- Ability to assess students functional vision and tailor lesson plans accordingly
- Familiarity with assistive technology and Braille instruction
- Resourceful, caring, and adaptable approach to student needs
Position Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to visually impaired students in both individual and group settings
- Adapt core curriculum and create accessible learning materials to meet each students needs
- Participate in developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and contribute relevant vision-related recommendations
- Serve as a resource for staff and families, providing guidance on best practices, technology, and classroom modifications
- Track progress and maintain accurate documentation as required
