A full-time position is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in the New Orleans, LA area, supporting students with visual impairments through itinerant services. This contract role begins ASAP and extends through May 22, 2026, adhering to a typical school calendar schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to visually impaired students across multiple schools within the district.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) based on student needs.
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to support student learning and accessibility.
- Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
- Maintain compliance with district policies, including mandatory drug screening and fingerprinting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Active Louisiana Department of Education certification specifically for Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is mandatory.
- Experience levels welcomed range from entry-level to over 10 years, with pay scales commensurate with experience.
- Ability to work a full-time schedule of 35 hours per week (7 hours per day plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch), Monday through Friday.
- Commitment to providing high-quality, individualized instruction in itinerant settings.
Location and Work Environment:
- Position serves schools throughout the New Orleans area, requiring travel between assigned schools.
Compensation:

- Contractual position with all necessary credentialing processed in advance.
