Job Description
Make a positive difference in the lives of students with visual impairments by providing specialized instruction and support in an onsite role near Greenville, MI for the 20262027 school year (specific dates to be finalized). This contract assignment calls for a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) passionate about fostering educational access and independence for all students.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification or licensure in special education for visual impairments
- Demonstrated experience working as an educator of students with visual impairments
- Ability to design and implement effective individualized instruction aligned with IEP goals
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with families, school staff, and multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to enhancing student learning, independence, and participation within the curriculum
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and adaptive strategies to students with visual impairments, both directly and through consultation
- Support and monitor progress toward IEP objectives, documenting results and adjusting interventions as necessary
- Collaborate closely with general and special education staff to facilitate student access to resources, including adaptive technology
- Advise and educate families on strategies and resources that reinforce skills at home and in the community
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and provide input on accommodations and modifications to instruction as needed
- Maintain up-to-date records and compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
