Job Description

Make a meaningful impact working with K-12 students at a school for the blind as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). This contract position offers an opportunity to support students educational growth and independence through specialized instruction and adaptive strategies. By collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, youll be a key resource for these students learning journeys.

Qualifications:

  • Current Maryland Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure
  • Experience or strong interest in working with students who are visually impaired
  • Proficiency in braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional methods
  • Ability to create individualized educational plans and adjust teaching techniques as needed
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with staff and families

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to K-12 students with visual impairments, both individually and in groups
  • Assess student needs and adapt curriculum materials for accessibility
  • Promote self-advocacy, orientation and mobility skills, and independence
  • Consult with teachers, parents, and related service providers for inclusive classroom strategies
  • Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings
