Job Description
Make a significant impact on students lives as an educator specialized in supporting learners with visual impairments. In this rewarding contract position, youll deliver individualized instruction and adapt the classroom experience for students with a wide range of visual needs. Youll work closely with a dedicated caseload of 20-23 students, providing both direct teaching and consultative support, and collaborating with educational staff to create an inclusive, accessible environment.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current, active North Carolina TVI license/certification required
- Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired, preferably in a K-12 educational setting
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with teachers, families, and support personnel
- Ability to develop, modify, and implement IEPs and instructional materials for students with varying degrees of visual impairment
- Comfortable providing instruction in person at the assigned location
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students visual functioning and educational needs
- Develop and deliver lessons tailored for students with visual impairments, adapting materials as needed
- Participate in the IEP process and maintain detailed documentation on student progress
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure proper accommodations and strategies are in place
- Provide orientation, mobility, and assistive technology support as applicable
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment
This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) offers the opportunity to work onsite in a supportive educational setting from now through May 2027. Your expertise will help shape a brighter, more accessible future for your students.
