Job Description
Make a genuine impact working with visually impaired students in a supportive school setting. This contract role offers the opportunity to provide specialized instruction to help students develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive academically and personally. Work closely with a caseload of 20-23 students, each with unique needs, and collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license and certifications
- Experience teaching or providing services to students who are blind or visually impaired, preferably in a school environment
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to adapt instruction for an onsite setting
- Dedication to fostering student independence, advocacy, and academic success
- Passion for inclusive education and supporting diverse learners
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and specialized services to students with visual impairments in accordance with IEPs
- Assess and track student progress, developing and adapting educational materials and strategies as needed
- Serve as a resource and advocate for visually impaired students within the school community
- Consult with general education teachers, providing support and training to ensure accessibility
- Maintain accurate records, collaborate on IEP planning, and participate in team meetings
This onsite position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule of 37.5 hours per week, allowing you to build strong relationships and provide ongoing support for students.
