Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
• Valid teaching certification with endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
• Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
• Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive tools
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in various educational settings
• Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and lesson plans
• Conduct assessments to determine students needs and progress
• Instruct students in Braille, orientation and mobility, use of adaptive equipment, and other skills for independence
• Support classroom teachers in adapting materials and instruction for accessibility
• Collaborate with educational staff, parents, and outside professionals to advocate for student needs
• Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and related school activities
