Make a positive impact on students lives as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) working on-site in a supportive school environment. Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Florida Department of Education certification as a Teacher for Visually Impaired
- Experience teaching Braille and adapting curriculum resources for visually impaired students
- Ability to handle a caseload across multiple school sites
- Comfortable providing both direct instruction and consultative services
- District fingerprint clearance required (prints from AHCA Clearinghouse may be used if previously fingerprinted)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction in Braille and other adaptive techniques to a diverse caseload of 12 direct students across up to five schools
- Provide a total of 690 service minutes per week, plus two consultative roles
- Adjust and adapt curriculum materials to meet individual educational needs
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, special educators, and support staff to ensure student success
- Maintain detailed records and progress documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines
- Participate in IEP meetings and help design student-centered educational plans
Position Details:
- Full-time, on-site position, 35 hours per week
- Contract term from October through early June
- Service may be spread across multiple campuses within the district
