Job Description

A high school in the Fort Lauderdale area is seeking a skilled Teacher of the Visually Impaired to support 9th-grade students in a contract position for the current school year.

Candidates must hold a valid Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification for the state of Florida. This role requires teaching visually impaired students with dedication and specialized instructional strategies tailored to their unique learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to visually impaired high school students
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with students needs
  • Utilize assistive technology and adaptive materials to enhance learning experiences
  • Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff for comprehensive student development
  • Monitor and document student progress according to school guidelines

Qualifications:

  • Valid Florida Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification
  • Experience working with visually impaired students in a high school setting preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
  • Ability to deliver personalized instruction tailored to students visual abilities

Position Details:

  • Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL
  • Workload: Approximately 46 minutes per day, 5 days a week
  • Age Group: 9th grade
  • Contract type: Current school year (CSY)
