This contract opportunity near Forest Grove, OR, is ideal for a Visually Impaired Teacher dedicated to fostering independence, inclusion, and academic achievement for learners at various grade levels.
Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Bachelors degree or higher in Special Education, Visual Impairment, or related field
- Experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in school settings
- Ability to develop and adapt curriculum materials to meet diverse access needs
- Knowledge of adaptive technology, Braille, tactile graphics, and orientation and mobility strategies
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small groups
- Assess student needs and prepare educational materials in accessible formats, including Braille and large print
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to modify instructional materials
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and progress monitoring of student goals
- Offer consultation and training for staff and families on best practices and assistive technology
- Support students with orientation and mobility skills within the school environment
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports
