Step into a fulfilling educational role supporting students with visual impairments across a dynamic school district near Florence, KY. As a full-time contract Visually Impaired Teacher, youll work district-wide, meeting the unique needs of approximately 10 students at various grade levels. Your expertise will guide and inspire learners, creating accessible educational opportunities and supporting their academic and social growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid VI (Visually Impaired) Teacher certification
- Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired (preferred)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfort traveling between schools within the district
- Ability to develop and implement individualized instructional strategies
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including other educators, therapists, and family members
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional support to students with visual impairments, adjusting materials and instructional methods as needed
- Assess student needs and design individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with IEP teams
- Teach assistive technology and orientation/mobility skills to promote student independence
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment focused on accessibility and student engagement
- Communicate regularly with families and district staff to ensure consistent support
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress and adapt strategies accordingly
- Offer guidance to general education staff on accommodations and accessible materials
