Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Visual Impairment (TVI)
- Experience working as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in a school setting
- Familiarity with adaptive technology and Braille instruction
- Knowledge of IEP development and implementation for students with visual challenges
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities with educators, families, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students visual needs and develop individualized instruction plans
- Provide direct instruction in core subjects and compensatory skills, including orientation and mobility, daily living skills, and technology use
- Adapt curriculum materials and teaching methods for accessibility and inclusion
- Coordinate with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to support students educational goals
- Participate in IEP meetings and document progress, goals, and adaptations
- Offer ongoing consultation and support for staff regarding strategies and resources for visually impaired students
