Job Description

As a contract Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you'll have the opportunity to support and empower 20 to 23 students with diverse and unique needs, ensuring they receive the tailored instruction and resources required for success. This is a full-time assignment working onsite.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must hold an active North Carolina Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license with all required certifications
  • Previous experience teaching or providing educational support to students with visual impairments strongly preferred
  • Skilled at developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to adapt general curriculum and learning materials to meet specialized needs
  • Strong communication, advocacy, and organization skills

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in small group and one-to-one settings
  • Assess functional vision and learning needs; develop appropriate goals and strategies
  • Adapt and produce accessible materials, including Braille, large print, and tactile resources
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, families, and service providers
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
