Job Description

An educational opportunity is available for a part-time Teacher for Blind and Visually Impaired students in the Rochester, NY area. This contract position involves working up to four days per week from January 12, 2026, through June 26, 2026. The role focuses on delivering specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students, with caseload and specific location details to be determined upon placement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized and group instruction tailored to the needs of blind and visually impaired students.
  • Develop and adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to facilitate learning.
  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers to support student progress.
  • Monitor and document student development and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Utilize assistive technology and other resources appropriate for visually impaired learners.

Qualifications:

  • Valid New York State teaching license for the visually impaired is required.
  • Experience working with blind and visually impaired students in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Flexible availability within Monday to Friday to accommodate up to four days per week schedule.

Location: Rochester, NY area within the Monroe 2 BOCES Orleans district.
