Job Description

A full-time opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to support K-12 students within a public school setting in the Washington DC area, approximately 45 minutes south of DC. This contract position runs from ASAP through May 29, 2026, requiring on-site presence (no remote or hybrid work options).

Responsibilities include delivering specialized instruction and support to an average caseload of 22 visually impaired students. The role involves working closely with school staff and families to meet individual student needs and comply with all state and district educational guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Active Virginia Department of Education teaching certification for Visually Impaired instruction
  • Ability to begin the required Virginia Department of Social Services background check immediately
  • Completion of a TB test as required by Virginia regulations
  • Experience levels vary; candidates with anywhere from 0 to 10+ years of relevant school experience are encouraged to apply

Additional Details:

  • Full-time schedule with 37.5 hours per week
  • Contract role through the current school year
  • Pre-employment screening interviews will be scheduled; candidates should be available between 9-11 a.m. or 2-3 p.m. EST for prescreen interviews, with flexibility possible
